Violett’s ONE HIT WONDER Party

On July 29th, our spunky little Violett turned 1! This girl is the epitome of “second child” and loves to be crazy, wild and loud! But what she probably loves most is making noise and dancing! So we thought a music themed birthday was the best fit for our girl, and when I thought up the ONE HIT WONDER theme for her party, there was no looking back!

Throwing birthday parties is not something I take lightly, and when it comes to first birthdays – it’s on!!! We usually don’t have very large budgets to make these celebrations come to life, so a lot of creativity, hard-work and love go into them! I wanted my girl to have the most magical birthday and I truly think she did! After all, it’s not really the decor or presents that make the day great, it’s the people you surround yourself with! But cute decor never hurt nobody…

I wanted to create a fun little “photo-booth” moment where kids could pose for pictures or they could play, so I put together some balloons, some instruments, some props and a backdrop and called it a day! The “backdrop” we used was actually a throw blanket/beach blanket that we already owned, the piano was a gift for Scarlett’s first birthday, and the little drum set was the gift that we (mom and dad) bought Violett for her 1st birthday present! What better way to be loud and make noise than owning a mini drum set?! And it was violet-colored?! Perfection!

Love having this letter ledge to help zhuzh up every celebration!

Decorations for parties are my absolute favorite thing and I spend months deciding the feel, color scheme and layout I want to create on the day! For this particular party and theme I knew I wanted lots of music notes, disco balls and of course lots of color all throughout! Whenever I can fit a rainbow in, you know I am going to!

Violett’s party decorations were 50% store-bought and 50% handmade! Obviously, I didn’t make the balloons or tablecloths or anything like that, but I did make the piano garland, the “One Hit Wonder” banner and all the little music notes throughout the party by hand or with my cricut!

One of the cute little decor details I loved was that I cut out little music notes and glued them to balloons strings so it looked like music was floating throughout the party!

Can you even believe this gorgeous birthday cake?! A local baker in Cincinnati, Yes, Please BakeShop makes the most beautiful traditionally decorated cakes and we love ordering from her whenever we can! She actually made Violett’s gender reveal cake for us, so we thought it would be even more special to have a cake from her to help celebrate Violett’s first birthday!

For the party favors for the kiddos I included some little maracas, popstar sunglasses and treats to go with the theme!

I decided to dress Violett as a little pop diva for her One Hit Wonder party and I couldn’t be more obsessed with her little outfit!! The bellbottom pants and one-shoulder top are just too much!

She was a bit hesitant at first, but eventually smashed her cake to smithereens!

We had an absolute blast celebrating with some of our closest friends and family and couldn’t have asked for better weather! Violett had a smile on her face the whole day and I know that she just had the best time which makes my heart so happy! ❤ Happy first birthday to my little treble maker!
