“2 SWEET 4 U” Birthday Party

Last weekend we celebrated our daughters’ birthdays in the SWEETEST way! With endless treats, that is!

This year we decided to combine our daughter’s birthdays and have a big birthday bash for the two of them! Their birthdays are only 4 days apart from one another and really, at this age they share the same friends, so we decided a combined party was our best option! And honestly, it worked out GREAT!!!! Almost everyone we invited was able to come celebrate with us and it made it so much fun!!

Knowing that we were combining their birthdays together, we knew we had to consider both of their opinions when it came to choosing a theme for the day! Scarlett has some very specific interests that Violett just doesn’t care about (at this point) so we didn’t want to choose a theme that they both wouldn’t absolutely love. There are lots of interests they have in common though! Some of the themes we were considering were Bluey, Trolls, a Unicorn or a Princess party (maybe we will use those another time?) but every time I would talk to them about choosing one, they just didn’t act too interested in any one theme! When I would ask Scarlett what she wanted at her birthday, she almost exclusively brought up the treats she wanted to eat, and that got me thinking, why don’t we have a treat themed birthday?! I mean, what kid doesn’t love sweets?!

After that realization I took that idea and just built off of it! Scarlett was turning 4 and Violett was turning 2, so we decided that the official theme was going to be “2 SWEET 4 U”! It was going to be a day filled to the brim with sweets and treats and have lots of fun and tasty decor!

Since this was a treat themed party, our dessert table had to supply all the goodies! We had cake, cupcakes and donuts ready for all of our guests to enjoy! And what is more sweet than stacking everything on a table that looks like a giant cake itself?! I put together the cake table with just a plastic tablecloth and streamers!

The funny thing about this cake was I actually had planned to make them a cake from scratch! I wanted to make them a rainbow layered cake. I had already baked all of the different colored layers, but when I went to make the frosting, I realized I had almost none of the ingredients to do so! I tried to improvise and combine a couple different frosting recipes together and it was just a disaster! So, two hours before the party started, I headed to Kroger and picked up one of their ready-to-go confetti cakes and that was that! It was delicious, and matched the rest of the decor perfectly! I really wanted that rainbow layered cake for them, but you know, you can’t win them all! haha

I did at least get to make these cute little “ice cream” cupcakes myself though! I just filled the ice cream cones about halfway with cake batter, baked them, and then decorated them with frosting! This was store-bought frosting though, so there was no drama with these! haha I topped them with some sprinkles and some cherries, and that’s it! So cute, and so yummy!

Of course had to hang up some balloons all throughout the house and yard to help celebrate!

The girls got this ice cream cart a couple years ago as a Christmas present, but I decided to customize it for our family! Our last name is Kirchner, so I thought Kirchner Creamery would be a super cute name for our ice cream cart! I did not customize this cart with this party in mind, I already planned on painting it. But hey, since it matched, might as well use it for more decor!

One of the gifts that my girls got for their birthday this year was this little inflatable water slide, so we knew we had to get it out for them and their friends to enjoy together! The unicorn sprinkler really didn’t fit the theme, but it’s a lot of fun, so we got that out too! haha

I found this adorable “create-your-own ice cream truck” at Target, and I thought it would be so fun for the kids to get to color and play in together! And then I also supplied some treat stickers that they could decorate all over the truck with as well!

Luckily this theme lend itself to a lot of different sweet-based puns, so I had to roll with it! On my Cricut I made a shirt for Scarlett that said “I SCREAM FOUR ICE CREAM” and a shirt for Violett that said “TWO SCOOPS PLEASE”! But I couldn’t stop there, in true Kaitlin fashion, I had to make a themed top for everyone in the family! So I decided to make my husband a shirt that said “BEEF CAKE” and a shirt that said “SWEET CHEEKS” for myself!

The girls had the absolute best day celebrating with all of our closest friends and family! Scarlett kept running around looking at the decorations saying “this is the best birthday ever!!” which completely warmed my heart and made me so happy that they enjoyed it! Like I have mentioned countless times, birthdays are a HUGE deal to me, so I want them to always feel celebrated each and every year! And this party may just have been the sweetest one yet!

  1. First of all, you’re actually a genius for incorporating their ages into the name/theme of the party! Secondly, you and your daughters are living the DREAM when it comes to your birthdays! I’m 28 this year and I’ve never had a birthday as amazing as any one of you three! But I love seeing each event you throw and all the love, planning and *colour* that goes into each one. Plus, no matter how old I get, I’d LOVE a sweets themed birthday 🙌

They’re so lucky to have a mother like you who cares enough to not only celebrate their birthday, but to care so much about their opinions on the actual party, even at such a young age! I truly hope they appreciate how wonderful you are for their entire lives. Bless you for being you!
